Apr. 2, 2006 Immigration is a huge factor in the United States these days. We are still the melting pot of the world but instead of taking the proper channels and doing things right, people are still sneaking into this country unlawfully. Since the terrorist attacks on 9/11 the United States have stepped up our security leaving us no other choice then to screen every man woman and child coming into this country whether using the proper channels or not and this is just a sign of the times. Now it would seem that we have a handful of politicians that are and always have been soft on illegal immigration. The repercussions of the illegal immigrants sneaking into our land are endless. We now have to deal with fewer jobs for Americans who are here legally as well as losing housing to these people. Many apartments are loaded with illegal immigrants using a one or two bedroom for ten or more people. Many Americans that are soft on the Immigration laws don't see a problem. There lives are not changed what so ever so they see no problem but that doesn't make the problem invisible. These terrorists are not welcome here. You did not misread my last statement, I did indeed say terrorists. This is another form of terror that we call economic terror. Yes, these immigrants get paid less for tasks that many Americans just would not do but at what cost? If we pay cheaper rates for illegal people to do the work there is no revenues coming in from there tax dollars because there simply is no tax dollars. Often we are forced to foot the bill for food stamps and housing for these people as well. America is a business. Our business at hand is to insure all of its people get a fair shake and this is just not possible to do when our policemen, firemen, merchants and regular Joe's have to foot a bill for unwelcome intruders. This land is my land and this land is your land but it is not their land. This is not about people of color or keeping anyone down. This is a problem with national security and by us letting these people sneak into our land can only result in disaster. Now it would seem that we have a new protester on the horizon. Some of us who are liberal would now protest against arresting these unwelcome vermin. It only will take one car bomb or one gunshot to kill one of us. If we don't know who is living here, how can we keep track of who is going to cause havoc? If people enter this country through proper channels then we welcome them with open arms as we always do. Sneaking into this great land of ours is just not acceptable and should not be tolerated in these times. Bureaucracy has become lazy and set in there ways knowing they are set for life. If they don't have to do anything they won't. They know they have a job for life and finding these illegal persons would only have to make them get off their rumps and do some work for a change. These people are a part of the problem not the solution. Maybe we need to change some of these people who are not willing to do their job for people in need of a job who are willing. "E Pluribus Unum" is our motto and we should start to stick by it. The plaque on the great lady in New York say's "Send us your tired and poor" This is why we are here and nothing more.
