Dec. 29, 2005 Mr. Gelbart is apparently a smart guy. He knows his evolutional science and can talk fossil evidence with the best of them. Yet, when he writes: “I have little patience or tolerance for ignorance…” he has already lost my desire to be reasonable with anything else he writes. He wants to teach us something and this is good, but he already assumes ignorance in his students and rather than be sympathetic, he becomes impatient and intolerant. That is a shame. I can imagine most teachers in American public schools being of the exact same mindset. It is no wonder American education is so deficient. Then there is this: “Yet, half of Americans think the earth is less than ten thousand years old…” This statement is doubtful. Christians are smart enough to know that “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” and that beginning could easily have been billions of years ago. Those who may think otherwise really haven’t given much thought to the part of the statement “In the beginning…” Now, how old mankind might be is another story. It is possible that modern man isn’t much older than 10 or 15 thousand years. “…and they have doubts about the theory of evolution…” as do many scientists and non-Christian philosophers and anyone else who knows the meaning of the word “theory”. But to say that Christians doubt an unproven theory while suggesting Christians only follow “junk and fairy tales that comprise creationism” because the “Theory of Evolution interferes with their idiotic belief…” is to deal denigration against a whole segment of society of which many probably would be happy to discuss the improvable claims of evolution if they were rationally stated without the background of malice. I don’t believe I have ever called any atheist, unbeliever or scientist the equal in intellectual standing to a “gullible hillbilly”. I allow the scriptural references to speak for themselves. All those who say there is no God are fools. That is a judgment of God. I take no credit for that. The argument from science that “Lungfish appear to be evolving” and “seals seem to be in transition” or “there are many transitional fossil species between fish and amphibians” or “birds and reptiles share a common ancestry” is fine if you are a lungfish or a seal or an amphibian or bird or reptile. There is not a shred of evidence that any of these forms of live evolved into species Homo sapiens. Apes, monkeys, chimpanzees and any other mammal even close to the DNA of humans are still existent. None of these have evolved to higher forms than what they are now and they will not. It may be politically correct to try to bring man down to the level of hogs but saying there is any commonality at all doesn’t make a bird from a reptile, a whale from a hippo or a human from a hog. Okay, scientists have been able to achieve “speciation” of fruit flies. Yes, scientists are making all kinds of abnormal changes in Petri dishes including sex selection in humans, cloning and gene manipulation. What is the human application of creating a “speciation of fruit flies”? Do we actually need a new species of fruit fly? Under Natural Selection, couldn’t a fruit fly have naturally evolved? Why did scientists have to interfere for 30 generations to create a new species except to attempt to muddy the evolutional waters of human science? If I follow the logic of the pro-abortionist, the stage-one embryonic development of a fetus of any species is nothing more than something that can be flushed. Not much of an argument for evolution if the evidence is that worthless. Fruit flies, maggot flies and grass? When has grass ever evolved into something other than grass? Salmon? Another fish that may grow legs and leave its land-locked lake? No. It was suggested that: “Creationists must give up their nonsensical claim that there are no transitional fossils.” And that surrender would be based on what proof; that a land-locked salmon might one day become a walking human? Evolutional science must do better than that. Better still, evolutionists “MUST GIVE UP” their nonsensical assertion that there is no God. ------------ About the Author: Michael John McCrae has contributed over 500 articles to Useless-Knowledge.com.
