Hillary Clinton - Where Are The Government Leaks When You Need Them?

By Tom Pain
Dec. 29, 2005

After a decade of slithering from one rock after another to avoid the boot of justice, it’s starting to look like Hillary Clinton will escape yet again. Is anyone surprised that the liberal media has not manipulated some bureaucrat into revealing the contents of Independent Counsel David Barrett’s report on Hillary’s use of the IRS to persecute her enemies?

National security at risk – no problem, they report it. Outright lies that lead to riots and deaths in Afghanistan – no problem, they report a leak that doesn’t exist. Criminal conduct by a Democrat that "would make the Valerie Plame affair vanish into comical insignificance," according to Tony Snow, yet without risk to anyone but its perpetrator – no leak to be found and the story has remained buried for eleven years, until Robert Novak’s article last week.

The facts are that a multitude of Clinton enemies found themselves targeted by the IRS during the Clinton tenure – an IRS run at the time by Hillary’s college buddy, Margaret Milner Richardson. Turns out that one of the unpublicized IRS "red flags" that trigger an audit during those years was being sexually assaulted by Bill Clinton – one after another his female accusers found themselves being audited by the IRS - Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Juanita Broddrick, and Elizabeth Ward Gracen were all targeted. Paula Jones even had her private tax return from 1997 leaked to the press. Now who could have done that? Just "coincidence" the Clinton White House said at the time.

The public came close to learning the truth. Barrett's investigation started in 1994 and Democrats have managed to block its report since then. Senate Democrats had manuevered to get Barrett’s office closed down by withholding its funding in a Treasury appropriations bill, but IRS critic Sen. Charles Grassley negotiated a deal with Sen. Byron Dorgan to block that amendment unless "all portions of the final report (Barrett’s)" were made public. Advance word has Hillary looking REAL bad in that report – end of a political career bad.

Alas, slime has a way of squeezing through the smallest cracks. Now the Senate-House Appropriations Conference committee has slipped in a provision allowing a three judge panel to review the report and withhold any portions they deem unworthy for public consumption. The ostensible rationale for excluding any portions will be to protect the public image of the IRS – heck, why don’t we protect Charles Manson’s image while we’re at it? Isn’t the IRS’s public image ugly to begin with? Hasn’t it always been? Do you know anyone – name one person – who likes the IRS? Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who’s really being protected.

Where’s Deep Throat when you need him? Oh, that’s right, he’s probably servicing Bill – do you think he knows he’ll get audited if Hillary makes President?
