Dec. 29, 2005 I have to hand it to the atheist. He does have a fine way of stating the obvious. He is absolutely right that there is no one alive in the world today with the faith that can move a mountain. Also, God does not so much deal with the world in that way anymore. There was a time when men would displease God with some act of disobedience and God would open the earth and have all the disobedient fall in. Or he would part a sea and have it close on the pursuers of his people or send them a plague or a draught. He doesn’t have to do that these days because he has sent his last sign and we don’t need to move mountains to prove anything to anyone. Yet, consider Jesus. Jesus could be on one side of a lake one moment and the next moment he’d be on the other side. It was witnessed that he walked on the sea as if on dry ground. He was able to turn water into fine wine. He raised the dead. This is that same faith that could easily move any mountain. Truly, if Jesus had come to destroy Rome’s domination and establish his kingdom back in the day, he could have done that with a spoken word. He asked Peter, “don’t you think I can but with one word ask my Father to send ten thousand angels to deliver me?” Jesus had the faith that no matter his request, his Father would hear it and give him his heart’s desire. This kind of faith does not exist in any natural man, nor will it until Christ comes and sets up his kingdom upon his second advent. Why? Every man, no matter how secure in his faith has doubts. Also, every man, no matter how much he refuses to admit it, suffers temptations that he falls to. Paul the Apostle admitted such faults. This is why he had to suffer shipwreck during storms where the Lord Jesus could just wake up and tell the storm to stop. There is an incredible difference in the faith exhibited by man compared to that of the Lord. This is why God must give man the faith he requires for justification and salvation. The scriptures declare that no man seeks God, so God seeks men that are capable of furthering his kingdom. He doesn’t call men to move mountains. He calls men to move hearts and lives toward him. If there had to be any more difficult task then getting atheists to acknowledge God is the heavier and more difficult task. Better to try to move a clod of dirt than a clod of atheist. ------------ Email Skip: skiptoomaloo@hotmail.com Tell a friend about this site! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com.
