Dec. 24, 2005 I was on my way back to Lafia [a former colonial out station in central Nigeria] after a hectic day on site, and the Peugeot 505 station wagon had just pulled into a filling station. A passenger hissed vehemently and cursed Obasanjo and all his ancestors (probably my emphasis) reason? This petrol 'wahala' [trouble], as if on cue a number of passengers picked up the baton and voiced their deepest and heart felt thoughts, aspirations and desires. Oh that the military boys would come back, oh those good old military boys – no nonsense, koboko [whip] wielding fear of God (and gun) instilling zombies. Nigerians are tired, Nigerians are sick and fed up! What kind of thing is this now? (now) I swear looking back must Nigerians wish for the days when the nation was ruled by decree[s], Oh yes the press was stifled, military boys in Khaki ran state houses, looted state coffers with what dignity in impunity, in orderly well choreographed, well rehearsed, in snyc with the drum beats of the time – times? Senator Joseph Kennedy Waku [a lawmaker from middle belt Nigeria] was considered the devil’s advocate when he as much as insinuated the – a come back of the zombies, the khaki clad automatons, but as with human nature no idea seems palatable at the first instance but later turns out to be absolutely genius. Many Nigerians are not voicing out their inner most longings albiet not allowed or unable to but I swear take a sizable chunk, a good number a large swathe and I swear they will mention -word the abominable.... "Let the khaki boys come back!". People change, things rearrange and a lot of water goes under the bridge and aqueducts but had Buhari and Idiagbon[ two military strong 2 clicks before the monster Abacha] lasted up to 2 years in power, Nigeria would be a much different place, no Nigeria probably would not have its first astronaut on the moon but the morass were in now would have been something for the current contemporary history books of Nigeria. The same faceless cabal that conspired through Babangida[the gap toothed evil genius of Nigerian political lore] to truncate that dream are now and have been soiling and spreading their cancerous and vile infections ideology – condemning the future of many bright young aspirations the nation all over. Personally I feel nothing short of a quick, violent, bloody French style or Russian Revolution will cleanse the sores of this so called hapless Giant of the Continent, in short we need a nationalized democratized anarchy.... an utter devastation of status quo that amidst the ruins of it all the last man standing will say “Here – a map let us begin from scratch..” Do not put me in the same category with people like Asari Dokubo [the so called Niger Delta militant idiot] – I went to school, I don’t know about him but in all that is the name of decency a little blood needs to run – not the blood of the masses as has always been the case in Nigeria. You call this treasonable felony?
