Dec. 24, 2005 Since it is the holiday season, and that means the New Year is right around the corner, here are a few stocking stuffers for those who want to buy some stocks with an eye toward the coming year or two. Some of the stocks I own and like for the coming year include: ARC Wireless Solutions - symbol ARCS. From its profile on Yahoo! Finance: ARC Wireless Solutions, Inc. provides wireless network component and end-to-end wireless network solutions. It designs, develops, manufactures, markets, and sells various antennas and related wireless communication systems, including cellular base station, mobile, cellular, conformal, and flat panel antennas. The company, through its subsidiary, Winncom Technologies Corp., engages in the marketing, distribution, and servicing of wireless component and network solutions in support of both voice and data applications. Look for the coming couple of years to be big in wireless technologies and applications as Wi-Fi and WiMax battle it out, and take out a lot of landline users. ARC Wireless Solutions could play a strong role in the upcoming wireless wave. Additionally, ARC Wireless Solutions has a big build-out in Kazakhstan, a $55 million project that should start in the near future. American Banknote Holograph – Symbol ABHH From its profile on Yahoo! Finance: American Bank Note Holographics, Inc. engages in originating, mass producing, and marketing holograms. The company’s holograms are used primarily for security applications, such as counterfeiting protection for credit and other transaction cards, and identification cards and documents of value, as well as for tamper resistance, and authentication of consumer and industrial products. It also produces nonsecure holograms for packaging and promotional applications. Security is becoming a bigger issue every year in commercial transactions, and that means a bigger market for American Bank Note Holographics. The company recently moved to newer, bigger facilities and appears to be growing in a strong manner. Igene Biotechnology – symbol IGNE From its profile on Yahoo! Finance: GENE Biotechnology, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the development, marketing, and manufacture of specialty ingredients for human and animal nutrition. It supplies AstaXin, a natural astaxanthin, which used as an essential nutrient in different feed applications and as a source of pigment for coloring farmed salmon species. The company also supplies nutraceutical ingredients, as well as consumer ready health food supplements, including astaxanthin. It operates in North America, South America, and Europe. As the market for natural fish food grows, so does Igene’s potential. It has teamed up with UK behemoth Tate & Lyle for a joint venture that is just getting going. Fonix – Symbol FNIX Fonix is in the telecommunications business, with a unique twist. According to the Yahoo! Finance profile for Fonix Corporation, the company also provides speech technology development tools and solutions, including automated speech recognition and text-to-speech for mobile/wireless devices; interactive videogames, toys, and appliances; computer telephony systems; and the assistive market. This niche market could prove fascinating in the near future with involvement in items such as the Xbox 360, etc. It will be interesting to watch these unique stocks in the upcoming year. ------------ About the author: Dwayne Hines currently has 12 books selling in major bookstores and writes for major magazines such as Physical and FitnessRX.
