Paul Was An Apostle

By Skip Toomaloo

It seems no matter the logic there are certain atheists who satisfy themselves bending the logical into illogical diatribes to support their personal unbelief. Paul was an Apostle.

You cannot wish away the fact that Paul’s message was completely accepted by those who walked with Jesus. You cannot wish away Paul’s testimony concerning his three years in Arabia being taught of Jesus. You cannot wish away Paul’s journeys and the conversions and the fact that Luke and Mark are products of Paul’s Apostleship.

I might agree that it was inconceivable that Paul would never mention the Gospel but he certainly must have because Luke and Mark wrote thorough accounts based on their perspectives of Paul’s teachings. They did not get their gospel from the other Apostles. They walked with Paul for many years during their journeys. To think they walked in silence, or to think Luke and Mark asked no questions of Paul is to close your mind to what is surely a logical explanation of the works of Luke and Mark.

My arguments are not valid to any atheist to be sure. I will say this again so even an atheist can understand it. No atheist is capable of understanding anything of spiritual worth until they accept the gospel. If they refuse the gospel they refuse the testimony of the Holy Spirit and they reject God. They therefore remain ignorant concerning true faith.

I did not claim that “no one ever wrote down” Paul’s words. I contend that the Gospels of Luke and Mark are the product of Paul. Some person who has no clue to Paul’s infirmity radically claims Paul personally wrote 100 pages of scripture. This is wrong. The only Epistle known to have been directly written by Paul is his letter to the churches in Galatia. Every other letter was dictated to a writer. I contend that the Gospels of Luke and Mark could have been products of Paul’s penchant for dictation. Again, to think Paul kept silent on all the long walks or to think his followers didn’t ask questions about the Jesus who taught him in Arabia is to be purposely close-minded.

Again, how does any atheist know Paul did not utter one word about the birth and subsequent life of Jesus? I am called to task because I cannot prove that Paul did speak when there were times Paul obviously couldn’t keep quiet. I cannot in turn question where any atheist might get his idea that Paul was silent in regard to Christ? Please allow me to tie one hand behind my back to make things a bit more equal.

Only a very close-minded individual, with no clue and no spirit would believe Paul didn’t know Jesus. When he joined the Apostles after three years they knew he had been taught by Jesus just by their short association with them. They blessed his message and did not dispute the need for Paul to go out to the Gentile world to spread the Good News, of which the Gospel of Jesus was truly a part.

Then too, there was the Holy Ghost working throughout the ministry. The first message of The Spirit is the Gospel. That is the first understanding of any believer. That is the basis of all other belief. To think Paul knew nothing of the Gospel is to wear a blindfold in a dark room absent windows and doors, expecting evolution to take its course.

The atheist would have me believe Paul “deliberately invented Christianity out of thin air”. That’s just wishful thinking. Paul “invented” nothing. Paul was indwelt by God and was given his words. Peter recognized that and considered the Epistles of Paul as much scripture as the Old Testament. Paul was the logical choice of God because of his background, his worth, and his personal testimony as a Jew.

Where in Paul’s writings did he not give God the express credit? Does the atheist even know what an Apostle is? The others knew and agreed that Paul was their equal in knowledge and message. The atheist doesn’t get that.

I will not deal with the atheist’s “straw man” attitude toward miracles. I understand why they do not occur and have written already about that. Jesus said the wicked and adulterous get one sign. You got it, now you must decide what you will do with it.

The atheist continually decides to misrepresent the logical parts of my argument. Paul wore a blindfold and didn’t see Jesus. Paul went on missionary journeys and never mentioned the gospel. Paul was recognized as an Apostle by osmosis rather than by direct testimony.

That is atheistic intellectual dishonesty and spiritual worthlessness.

I think the key to understanding the atheist is to see the hatred infused into that particular heart. It is quite simply, corrupt.
