Dec. 21, 2005 Imagine we had a law that made it easier for us to go after terrorists. Imagine that this law was very successful, and that it allowed terror groups to be found and arrested. And that with the powers this law provided there hadn't been a terrorist attack in the country in over four years. Well, we don't have to imagine. It's called the patriot act. It was passed 99-1 in the Senate in 2001, and now they want to kill it. Mostly thanks to a cheaply manufactured scandal from the New York Times, which they sat on for a year just so they could wait until the law was up for renewal to get cowardly senators all worked up over nothing. The Patriot act needs to be renewed, and any Senator that votes it down should be voted out of office. A federal judge said that Intelligent Design can't be taught in school since it violates seperation of church and state. Now, I don't care about I.D. and evolution. The schools can teach either or both, that's their discretion. I could care less. But apparently this judge, supposedly someone who knows the constitution, thinks that the words seperation of church and state are somewhere in the constitution. Apparently this judge, appointed by President Bush, is on the side of these militant secuarlists who belive that in order to have freedom of religion it must be banished completely from the public square. That leaves the question: when will they go after religion in someone's private life? Let's see if Mayor Bloomberg has a backbone and fires workers engaging in an illegal strike. Personally I doubt it. RINOS tend to be rather weak creatures. Congress wants to trim 40 billion dollars from the budget over the next 5 years. Is that all? Why not 40 billion a year for the next five years? Why not more? Everyone can agree there's too much spending going on by congress, too many pork barrel projects that congress has no right to fund. I guess as long as congressmen feel they can buy votes with pork, and people keep re-electing them forever we won't really get spending under control. Mexico is hiring an American public relations firm to clean up their image, and to put a pro illegal immigration spin on things. Don't we have the media to put a pro immigration spin on things? And maybe Mexico should actually solve their problems rather than hiring a bunch of spin masters to make them look better to the American people. Spin all they want, the emperor down there still doesn't have any clothes. Let's build that wall. And fast. Well that's all. Merry Christmas. And if Merry Christmas offends you, too bad. ------------ About the author: Craig Chamberlain has written more than 100 articles for Useless-Knowledge.com.
