Dec. 20, 2005 The recent mourning of the death of 30,000 Iraqis is right and proper. Coming out of the pens of the left however, I can’t help seeing the hypocrisy. No Conservative that I am aware of is proud of 30,000 Iraqi deaths. We mourn with those who’ve lost their loved ones. We also understand that the vast bulk of these deaths were a result of direct homicide attacks by radical Islamists bent on destroying the process of creating liberty and justice in a land that hasn’t seen much of that. Liberty comes with a cost. Maintaining freedom comes with a cost too. The costs are usually bourn in blood. The greatest freedom any individual can have is the freedom that comes in personal faith in God. I have written enough about that in the past but the one point I want to make here is that even that liberty I have was purchased with blood; the blood of Christ. There is an old saying that anything worth having is worth fighting for. There are a lot of things not worth the cost of blood. Much blood is shed because of greed and selfishness. There is a bloodshed bourn of selflessness however. The American Military is exercising this selflessness over here every day. They are prepared to die, and they do die for the sake of freedom and liberty for Iraqis. Don’t think for a moment these sacrifices aren’t appreciated. Thirty thousand is a high number. These man and women and children who have been killed have been killed waiting in lines to vote in elections. These folks have died in lines waiting to sign up to join the Iraqi defense forces and police force. These folks have died in the line of duty; digging up IEDs and placing their own lives in front of schools and hospitals to protect the inhabitants of those structures. They have been lined up on roads and had their brains blown out for joining the police and the army against the terrorists. They have been public servants who have been assassinated by radical Islamists for being elected to local governments as Mayor or city representative. They have not been gunned down mercilessly by American Taliban. Yes, it is right to mourn 30,000 dead. Each of these people was killed just trying to live in peace. Many have been killed because they are trying to help their nation win peace. Again, freedom comes with a cost. Don’t ever let it escape you that Saddam had 400,000 or more in mass graves. Where is the mourning for those souls? Remember too that Saddam was running an “Oil-for-Food” scam with members of the vaunted UN and that program was starving another 5000 Iraqi babies to death each month. I could understand no sympathy from pro-abortionists, but I would never understand disassociation from any normal and moral individual. Where is the mourning for all those souls? I mourn too for the two thousand soldiers who have given themselves for the protection of my homeland. They accepted a duty and gave everything to it. This is a cause for honor and pride. The homeland remains safe while they perform their role as soldier. I mourn too for the families of those who lost loved ones on 9/11/2001. That was the day that enabled America to come together and stop ignoring the deaths of Americans for the sake of peace. That was the day we finally said to our enemies; “Enough”! Iraq will have its government. The terrorists will lose. We will have a solid and substantial victory or we will be destroyed. There are no compromises here. Iraq has proven she can take the hits and continue to swing back. If she loses her good right arm (America) she will lose the ability and the will to choose freedom over tyranny. America cannot afford that. America refuses to afford that. The Iraqis agree. I am proud that the President has decided to stop being so PC about the left. We have seen a lot of recent caterwauling and nay saying of late and it would be disheartening, but the President doesn’t care. He has sworn to protect and defend America and he was given the authority to do whatever needed doing to perform that mission. You can read the Congressional resolution approved by everyone yourself. The President understood completely the authority given to him from the vote of congress and acted on it. Both sides of the aisle should be proud that the actions of government have created an atmosphere of victory. Rather, one side and a few malcontents see only defeat and seem to be actively invested in the failure of America. Well, I am with the little old Iraqi lady, who was quoted on CNN, saying: “They can go to hell.” ------------ About the Author: Michael John McCrae has contributed over 500 articles to Useless-Knowledge.com.
