Spencer Bachus Is Back In The Natalee Holloway Case Picture Again

By Dayo Gould
Dec. 17, 2005

U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus, whose veiled references to the disturbing circumstances surrounding the vanishing of Natalee Holloway were sufficient to send 13 FBI agents on their way to Aruba (http://www.useless-knowledge.com/1234/nov/article401.html), met with a delegation of Aruban, Alabaman and FBI representatives yesterday.

The Natalee Holloway investigation, which has consumed fully 40 per cent of Aruba’s annual policing budget, has been stalled as the Aruban government waits for a response from the U.S. State Department to the petition, made months ago, that Mountain Brook trip participants and residents be questioned by Aruban police investigators.

Mr. Bachus, displaying the tact and courtesy inherent in a Southern upbringing, praised the Aruban investigators for their professionalism and diligence, and suggested that procedural roadblocks, which have stymied Aruban attempts to successfully resolve the mystery, be removed and that American witnesses should talk.

In a refreshing display of candour (and one which some might find disturbing, as only circumstantial evidence led to the detention of the six Aruban residents), Mr. Bachus said, “There are people in my district who have said, `I don't want them coming up here and talking to my son or daughter' but in a criminal investigation where there is a missing young lady, you talk to the people that were around her the last few hours”.

That blunt statement, whilst exposing the six-month HMI misinformation campaign to even more public approbation and ridicule, will certainly bring the muzzled, camera-confiscated Mountain Brook trip participants to the forefront of any continuing investigation.

Representatives of media-maven-loving Beth Holloway-Twitty were specifically denied access to this fact-finding meeting; however, fact has never figured heavily in HMI’s previous misinformation campaigns, so the all-important donation drives should not be adversely affected.

In an article conspicuously lacking in tact and source-referenced fact, El Diario, the Aruban newspaper run by Beth’s ubiquitous, on-Aruba pal, Mr. Jossy Mansur, http://www.useless-knowledge.com/1234/sept/article230.html, has come out snapping at the hands that once rocked the cradle of the now-normal, presumed-to-be-in-America Natalee Holloway. www.diarioaruba.com/diabierna/noticia/news6.html

Mr. Mansur’s newspaper suggests that Ms. Holloway was in an enceinte state when she arrived in Aruba (making for two missing persons if El Diario is correct); that trip participants may have assisted Natalee in returning to the United States (and opines that, if that return did occur, the van der Sloots and Kalpoes could not have been implicated); and, in closing paragraphs, makes enigmatic mention of “a person very close”.

January is but a short few weeks away; so, in a smooth segueing from the soon-to-be-seen Holloway to the soon-to-be-sued, we note that the law courts of London and Europe do seem to be the venues of choice for those fortunate (and intelligent) enough to be able to avail themselves of the avenues of recourse open to slandered and maligned individuals.

Just last week, the American cyclist, Lance Armstrong, was indicted and scheduled to appear, on March 27, in an Italian court to answer charges of defaming cyclist Filippo Simeoni during last year’s in-France Tour de France. In an even more chilling (and much more amusing) news report, it was revealed that the U.S. actress, Teri Hatcher, has won “substantial damages” in London’s High Court in a case that took a mere 143 days to resolve (from July 25, 2005, to December 15), proving, once again, that judicial jurisdiction-shopping can lead to speedy resolutions, as empty rhetoric and meaningless grandstanding are not permitted in European court rooms.

Who was the lawyer for Mr. Joseph Gutnick (Joe pried open this particular Pandora’s box)? Might he not be of an age where he might be looking for a safe, balmy isle to retire to? Mighty attractive if he did retire to Aruba, as he could likely buy 10 retirement homes with the millions (and hundreds, lol) extracted from those who promulgated HMI’s patently unprovable pap.
