Dec. 8, 2005 Bush supports terrorism and his chosen party is in cahoots with the KKK. Sound offensive? Why, I've formulated that title simply by applying the logic of a subset of conservatives. Some Democrats want out of Iraq right now. The insurgency which has links and is run in part by terrorists also want us out of Iraq. Surely, the Democratic party is in cahoots with the terrorists. The KKK wants to get rid of affirmative action and wants the feds to stay the heck away from their guns. Republicans want to get rid of affirmative action for different, non-racist, reasons [or so they say] and they will bow to NRA pressure no matter how sensible or friendly to the second amendment a “contentious” bill may be. Surely, the KKK and the Republican party are working together. Wait – isn't the KKK considered a terrorist group? Hmmm... Iraq has more terrorists now than it did before we invaded it. Major Al Qaeda attacks have come after we invaded. Surely this means that Bush is responsible for, and supports, terrorists. Bush had no plan for winning the peace, and he hasn't, until recently, given anyone a clear picture of just what the heck he wants to accomplish in Iraq in any detail. Where did I get this information – Michael Moore? No! How about David Brooks, conservative columnist and Grover Norquist, the darling of the center-right coalition that brings together earth-worms and alligators (Christian powermongers and Libertarians). By daring to criticize the administration they surely must be Al Qaeda operatives as well. Is that better or worse than working for the KKK? Wait a sec – both are terrorists groups – surely they are working together! All terrorists groups are the same, which is why we “cared” that Saddam sometimes paid for terrorists which had nothing to do with Al Qaede pre-invasion, don't ya know. My cat eats and likes a clean litter box. So do I! I make no apologies for enjoying a good meal, folks, nor do I apologize for wanting the box to smell clean! I guess I'm a cat, or, support cat's rights politically. I must be part of a secret group urging Congress to sponsor public, rodent chasing contests in major cities. I therefore support the spending of billions to build and market such new arenas! Lets raise taxes to support this! I'm not at 500 words yet and am considering wrapping this up, I therefore support those people that break the rules and write less than 500 words. I've heard that Hitler likes short speeches [no I haven't], so I must be a supporter of fascism! Give me your cows, fellow UK writers, so I can milk them and then shoot them and you and everyone else, or however that old joke goes! Hile Hitler! Democrats aren't traitors, they don't support terrorists (although the Republicans did in the 80s), they aren't communists (Grover Norquist agreed on a recent Charlie Rose on PBS), they don't support Saddam (although the US has supported ruthless dictators all through its history when it suited its interests, even when we knew that people suffered as a result - the Sha in Iran, for example), etc. Lets get real folks. Five recent articles at UK have made these ridiculous claims, one even claimed that Democrats support Hugo Chaves! These claims only sound funny when O'Splotchy or Prettyboy ImnotyetoutoftheclosetandmynameisHannity on Fox “News” channel invent them, not when red-meat craving loons repeat them. If Republicans want Democratic support for major policy, then perhaps they should move to the middle on other major issues instead of caving in to the extreme-far-distant-loony-”out of the mainstream” Right-wing. ------------ About the author Frederick Smith: I enjoy writing about the positive virtues of humanism - humanists are the good guys. I now have a blog that I will start to increasingly maintain and update. Here is the link: fredsuberview.blogspot.com/ This is my second foray into the UK writing discordia. This time around, I want to be a tad more raw - maybe a bit edgier (does that sound "art-see"?) Maybe I'll address even more issues that most Americans consider taboo... About my personal background and life: I was born, I got some education, worked, ate, and had some kids.
